A VIRTUAL INTERIOR DESIGN: PROJECT HANALEI SNEAK PEEK

Welcome friends & fellow design lovers & DIYers...

Today I want to share a little bit more about about project behind the scenes.

This one is fully virtual!

Project Hanalei—a virtual design endeavor that brought to life Jenna's dream of a stylish, functional, and welcoming mini detached house.

Our delightful client, Jenna, envisioned this space as a perfect blend of a serene home office, an inviting guest area, and an Instagram-worthy backdrop for virtual meetings. Through our Meet & Greet session, we laid the groundwork for this exciting project. Jenna needed guidance during the construction phase, seeking help with finish and fixture selection, furniture curation, and layout planning.

After diving into her quick project assignment—measurements, space videos/photos, inspiration pics, and inventory—I set the wheels in motion for the design process.

The Scope: 4 Rooms (Multipurpose Livingroom/Study, Kitchenette, Bathroom, Guest Bedroom)

Ask: Deliver, design concept, key item selections, spatial planning per room, and fixture & finishes schedule for construction.

Challenges:

1. Stay within budget while infusing a nature-inspired yet romantically modern aesthetic.

2. Ensure cohesion across all four interconnected rooms.

It was a thrilling challenge! Two feedback sessions allowed us to fine-tune the presentation, reflect on Jenna's input, and brainstorm innovative ideas.

How to make all rooms feel cohesive?

My secret to achieving a cohesive feel always starts with a color palette.

Finding the right hues of green to connect these spaces was paramount. So I put together colors, textures, finishes and see how all play together.

Room by Room Breaking Down the selections and rationale! It is all in the details...

Livingroom, A Romantic Dream:

This multifunctional space was designed for relaxation, sunsets, and professional zoom calls. Jenna craved dreamy aesthetics with natural touches.

A gorgeous beach photo art became the focal backdrop, paying homage to Hanalei—their cherished vacation spot.

Soft sage accent wall set the tone, complemented by accentuated IKEA library/console. Which was re-painted the same color as the wall with he Sherwin Williams Soft Sage hue made its mark beautifully. Just so simple yet so elegant!

Furniture Picks:

Bathroom, Moody Romance:

Though small, the bathroom carried a moody yet romantic theme. Budget constraints led us to a pre-assembled vanity from Wayfair.

  1. A captivating peel-and-stick wallpaper-infused romance that is also moisture-resistant!

  2. Lighter tiles balance the deeper green hues, and a mosaic tile for the shower floor for a subtle dynamic play.

  3. A smartly placed panel and strategic design made the vanity shine.

  4. The vanity is pre-installed and the perfect size for this guest bathroom. And the details on the cabinet doors are on point!

  5. All the hardware was selected to shine, the brass tone just to add extra contrast & elegance to the green backdrop.

  6. The Green Wall Paint is Sherwin Williams Succulent.

Furniture / Fixture Picks:

Kitchenette, Calm with a Pop:

The kitchenette underwent a transformation with soft cream cabinets and contrasting black granite countertops. Having this soft base in the kitchenette will be a great backdrop for the green accent walls in the livingroom.

  1. And my favorite is a vintage-style Etsy faucet.

  2. Reclaimed wood textured floating shelves added rustic charm.

  3. SW Dumpling for the cabinet and SW Alabaster for the walls set the backdrop.

  4. Vintage-style hardware and a budget-friendly mini fridge sealed the look.
