Beyond Trends: 4 FRESH ideas I am integrating MORE in 2026+

Every year, I ask myself the same question: What do my clients actually need more of in their homes right now? Bringing TIMELY (aling with TIMELESS), add innovation evolve...
The answer going into 2026 is clear:
Depth, warmth, and intention — without chaos. Not trend-chasing. Not overdesigning. Just thoughtful, layered spaces that feel calm and exciting to live in. COZIER!

So instead of listing every trend under the sun, I’m focusing on four design directions I’m intentionally bringing into our projects this year. These are the ones that keep showing up in our work, in client requests, and honestly… in how I want homes to feel.

Let’s get into it.

1. Yes, We’re Still Using Deep Colors (And Loving Them Even More)

Elegant dining area with white chairs around a concrete table, dark walls, and wooden shelves. Soft lighting sets a cozy, sophisticated mood.

If you thought deep colors were going anywhere — they’re not.

In fact, in 2026, we’re using them more confidently and more thoughtfully.

Think:

  • Deep burgundy that feels rich, not heavy

  • Warm browns that ground a space

  • Olive and mossy greens that bring nature indoors

These colors are no longer just “accent walls.”

They’re being used in cabinetry, dining rooms, offices, and entry spaces, layered into homes that are otherwise neutral and bland.

The magic? When done right, deep colors actually make a space feel cozier, not darker. They add soul. They make neutral homes feel intentional instead of unfinished.

You just need to focus on colors that would repeat through out the house as accent colors.

2. Flat Walls Are Out. Texture Is In.

Smooth, builder-grade walls don’t really do much for a space. In 2026, we’re saying hello to texture that you can feel (and see). We’re leaning into:

  • Roman clay walls

  • Lime wash finishes

  • Soft plaster textures

  • Textured wall treatments that catch light differently throughout the day

These are TIMELESS applications; they have been in the Mediterranean world for years.

These finishes add depth without shouting for attention. They’re subtle, imperfect in the best way, and incredibly calming. Once clients experience a textured wall, it’s very hard to go back.

This is one of those upgrades that doesn’t scream “trend” it just quietly elevates everything around it. Brings depth.

You can already see it in many of our projects like RRR, Head SPA Design HERE, or Bella Vista Home Office which has the mint green calming souls.

3. Wallpaper, But Make It Intentional

At DNC, Wallpaper is having a moment, but not the loud, everywhere kind.

In 2026, we’re using wallpaper strategically:

  • Home offices (including ceilings, yes, really)

  • Powder rooms that surprise you

  • Dining spaces that need a little drama

  • Transitional areas that deserve more love

We’re drawn to organic patterns, architectural motifs, grasscloth textures, and wallpapers that feel more like art than decoration.

When wallpaper is layered with textured walls or deep paint tones, it creates this beautiful, collected feeling — like the home evolved, not all at once.

We started to add wallpaper on ceilings, for example HERE.

4. Slope Arms & Softer Furniture Details

Furniture is getting softer, visually and emotionally. One detail we’re loving and using more of in 2026? Slope arms. They show up in sofas, chairs, and lounge seating, and they immediately make a space feel more relaxed and elevated at the same time.

We’re pairing these silhouettes with:

  • Sculptural details

  • Mixed materials (wood, metal, stone)

  • Pieces that feel curated, not showroom-perfect

This furniture style balances beautifully with deep colors and textured walls. It keeps spaces from feeling too formal or too heavy — and makes rooms feel lived-in, in the best way.

So What Does This Mean for Your Home?

2026 isn’t about doing more. It’s about doing things with intention.

It’s about:

  • Calm homes that still have personality

  • Neutral spaces that aren’t boring

  • Moody moments that feel warm, not overwhelming

  • Design choices that actually support how you live

This is the direction we’re moving — and honestly, it feels really good.

If you’re planning a project this year (or even just dreaming), these are the ideas shaping our work at Design & Curations. Thoughtful, layered, a little bold, and always grounded in how a space should feel.
