How to Add Interest and Texture to Neutral Modern Homes: 4 Textures I Love

Hello there!

Are you ready to transform your neutral modern home into a cozy, inviting space?

Let’s dive into how you can add layers of interest and movement to your space with some of my favorite textures: limewash, rattan, boucle, limestone, and more.

There are so many more, this is just a starting point to consider to add some different finishes to your space.

 1. Limewash: Soft and Organic Walls

Limewash is a great way to add depth and character to your walls while keeping an earthy, organic feel. It creates a soft, almost velvety texture that reflects light beautifully, giving your space a warm, inviting glow. Plus, it’s perfect for those who love a bit of rustic charm.

How to Use Limewash:

- Apply it to accent walls to create a focal point.

- Use it in rooms with a cozy, intimate atmosphere, like bedrooms or reading nooks.

2. Rattan: Natural and Versatile

Rattan is a deep material that brings a touch of nature indoors. It’s perfect for adding texture without overwhelming your neutral palette.

Whether it’s in the form of furniture, light fixtures, or accessories, rattan adds a breezy, organic feel to any room.

How to Use Rattan:

- Incorporate rattan chairs or side tables in your living room.

- Use rattan light fixtures to add an earthy element to your dining area.

- Add rattan baskets for stylish storage solutions.

Boucle fabric is having a major moment in interior design. Its soft, nubby texture adds a luxurious, cozy feel to any space. It’s perfect for those who want to add warmth and comfort without straying from a neutral color scheme.

How to Use Boucle:

- Choose a boucle sofa or armchair for a statement piece.

- Add boucle throw pillows or blankets to your seating areas.

- Use a boucle-covered ottoman for a touch of softness.

4. Limestone: Elegant and Timeless

Limestone is an elegant and timeless material that can add a subtle texture to your home.

Its natural variations and soft hues make it a perfect choice for those who appreciate understated beauty.

How to Use Limestone:

- Opt for limestone flooring in areas where you want a durable, yet stylish surface.

- Use limestone tiles in your bathroom for a spa-like feel.

- Incorporate limestone countertops or backsplashes in your kitchen.

By blending these textures, you can create a space that is both neutral and full of character.

Start with a clean, neutral base and add more movement and depth using natural elements like limewash walls, linen curtains, natural stone decor, rattan details, linens, plants, and more!

All these together are great ways to bring warmth into your home.
