Hello, design enthusiasts,
As we step closer to 2025, I’m excited to share my top 5 design predictions that merge timeless elegance with contemporary trends. These insights are drawn from my observations and the inspirations I gathered at the High Point Furniture Market, which is one of the biggest furniture shows in the world.
Whether you’re a seasoned designer or someone who simply loves to add fresh ideas into your space, these predictions are sure to inspire you for a refreshing new year.
So let’s dive in!
1-Deep Earthy Tones
Earth tones like terracotta, rust, chocolate, and deep greens are everywhere right now. These rich colors bring a warm, grounded feel to any space and pair beautifully with neutrals. They evoke a deep connection to nature, reminiscent of the moody, calming hues of fall and the earth itself.
Olive tones are my personal favorite—they’re versatile and timeless. I especially love how they pop against cream sofas or light rugs.
I also like using these deep shades in small spaces like powder rooms or home offices to create wow effect. One of our recent powder room designs used these tones, and it turned out stunning—warm, cozy, and connected to nature.
2-Velvet, Velvet, Velvet!
You’ve probably heard me talk about velvet a lot lately, and for good reason! Velvet has become the modern definition of cozy—it combines softness, luxury, and durability. Plus, it’s a performance fabric, meaning it’s designed to withstand everyday wear and tear, resist stains, and maintain its beauty over time.
I’ve seen velvet everywhere recently—on sofas, accent chairs, ottomans, and more. It’s incredibly versatile, elevating any piece of furniture while still feeling warm, stylish and welcoming.
3-Walnut Complimenting Oak
We see rich wood tones, especially walnut, particularly in kitchens. These deep, natural hues add warmth and depth to modern spaces. When paired with warm white tones in bi-color kitchens, walnut tones soften and elevate sleek white cabinets.
For the perfect finishing touch, pair this combination with brass hardware in an antique finish. The contrast is timeless and adds a layer of elegance to the overall design.
4-Accent Lighting for Depth and Dimension
Accent lighting is becoming a key element in home design, offering not just illumination but a way to create depth and mood. One standout trend is the use of stone lighting, particularly alabaster, for ambient pieces.
Alabaster lights are rich in texture and timeless in appeal. With so many stunning options available, these lights bring a touch of luxury and sophistication to your home.
5-Curved Furniture
Curved furniture is here to stay, and it’s easy to see why. With soft edges and inviting silhouettes, these pieces bring a sense of comfort and relaxation.
You can pair them with cozy fabrics like boucle to for extra style, comfort, and coziness.
Bonus: Natural stone - Deep Veins and Textured Elegance
Natural stone continues to be a standout trend, with materials like marble and travertine taking on new roles in design. Travertine, in particular, has remained popular, now appearing more frequently in lighting designs.
Whether used in lights, surfaces, or decor, these stones bring a touch of organic sophistication. They effortlessly complement modern spaces while adding layers of elegance and natural beauty.
