Project Viva la Vida - Living Room by Design & Curations

Welcome to Project Viva la Vida, a journey of transforming a home into a bright, modern, and inviting space that reflects personality and style.

This blog takes you behind the scenes of an exciting six-month renovation, where creativity, collaboration, and a shared vision brought a dream home to life!

It all began with a phone call at the end of May when Caroline reached out to us to collaborate with DnC. After a warm Meet & Greet call, we followed up with an in-person meeting. Caroline wanted to refresh her home, incorporating modern, bright elements while maintaining inviting, feminine décor that reflected her personality.

Her love for eclectic art and décor instantly resonated with us. It was a unique project with a tight deadline: six months to complete full furnishing, renovations, and wall removals for a complete transformation of the main floor.

Caroline’s enthusiasm for DnC’s aesthetic and eagerness to personalize her space made this collaboration particularly exciting.

The Journey Begins: Kickoff Meeting

We started with a comprehensive project kickoff meeting that lasted three hours.

During this time, we covered five rooms, taking measurements, discussing inspirations, touching samples, and outlining the project’s scope.

It was all about listening to Caroline’s vision and preferences, as well as identifying the colors, themes, and elements that would make the space uniquely hers.

Bringing the Vision to Life: Design Phase

The design phase was seamless, with clear communication through 3D renders and boards.

We created visualizations, including video walkthroughs of the entire floor, to help Caroline envision her renewed home.

The designs for the living room and powder room were particularly well-received, with almost no revisions needed. Seeing her excitement made the process even more rewarding.

Smooth Collaboration with Contractors

Working with Atlanta Curb Appeal, a detail-oriented general contractor, was a game-changer.

After a thorough implementation kickoff meeting and sharing our detailed SPEC book, we ensured smooth execution through regular site visits.

During the renovation, we tweaked the kitchen design to enhance functionality, demonstrating the flexibility required for a successful project.

Open Living Reimagined

We removed the wall between the dining room and kitchen, creating a brighter, more open space.

Enlarging the kitchen window added much-needed natural light while reconfiguring the pantry and adding a new island made the space more functional.

We sourced a fluted sink and a bridge faucet, adding character to the kitchen, and incorporated open shelving to keep the space calm and practical. A custom hood with a subtle curve—a collaboration with Hoodsly—added the perfect finishing touch.

Unique Custom Features: Powder Room and Dry Bar

The powder room became a standout feature with its custom scallop vanity. Sleek yet feminine, it blended modern and romantic elements seamlessly. The deep green limewash finish amplified the room’s elegance.

For the dining room, we designed a dry bar with grasscloth wallpaper.

While an antique mirror was not approved due to budget constraints, the final result exceeded expectations, combining style and practicality.

A Dreamy Nursery

As Caroline’s family grew, we designed a serene nursery with pastel pink tones and cloudy wallpaper. Beaded details and rattan décor softened the space, creating a soothing environment for the baby.

The Thrill of Install Day

Install day was an adrenaline-filled experience! With our design assistant, installation crew, painters, wallpaper installers, and electricians all working simultaneously, the house buzzed with activity.

At one point, there were 16 people on-site, yet everything came together smoothly thanks to Alper’s expert project management.

The following week, we organized a photo shoot and final styling to showcase the refreshed space, with talented Hannah, LINK here.

The Grand Reveal

Caroline’s joy during the grand reveal made all the effort worthwhile.

Seeing her smile and knowing we had delivered her forever home on time for hosting was incredibly fulfilling. I must admit their review made me cry a little. It all feels right, and special.

"My husband and I couldn't be happier with the incredible work team Burcu and Alper did on our home renovations. Their attention to detail, creative vision, and ability to bring our ideas to life exceeded our expectations." Caroline C., Atlanta, Project Viva la Vida

It was a true reminder of why we do what we do.

Stay tuned for our next blog post, where we’ll share sources and links for each room’s selections!
