Each spring & fall, the world’s largest furniture show offers one of the most influential glimpses into the future of home design. For those of us in the design world, High Point Market in North Carolina is where inspiration, craftsmanship, and evolving design direction come together at scale.

But for me, this experience is never about simply identifying what is “on trend.”

This year’s spring furniture show reaffirmed something I deeply value: The future of home design is leaning toward soulful longevity.

If 2025 focused on grounding interiors through organic modern simplicity, 2026 expands on that foundation with deeper character, subtle drama, and collected sophistication.

Here are my biggest design inspirations from the world’s largest furniture show this spring.

1. Rich, Earthy Color Palettes Continue to Evolve Beautifully

Color remains powerful, but this season’s strongest palettes embraced richness without sacrificing timelessness.

I saw an abundance of:

• Wine

• Burgundy

• Deep browns

• Chestnut

• Walnut

Deep wine tones feel warm, sophisticated, and emotionally grounded.

There is something incredibly luxurious yet cozy about these shades, particularly when paired with: Velvet upholstery, Fringe accents, Sculptural seating, Vintage-inspired silhouettes...

2. Fringe & Skirts Making a BIG Comeback.

Decorative Details Are Returning Through Refined Craftsmanship.

As someone who naturally gravitates toward transitional minimalism, one of my observations this year was the return of subtle yet expressive detailing. And it might be contrary to the minimal look, but I feel it makes everything more inviting and sophisticated, WHEN we use them in the right setting with intention. It is all about the feeling we are going for; it could be so cool in a game lounge or kids' room.

Across countless showrooms, I saw:

• Fringe

• Skirted upholstery

• Casters

• Swoop legs

• Decorative trim

• Soft French lounge influences

These details immediately add soul.

They create furniture that feels:

• Collected

• Sophisticated

• Elevated

• Personal

This is not about excess.It is about craftsmanship and thoughtful visual softness. When done in right place, these details transcend trend cycles.

When I asked our community on Instagram, it looks like it is 60-40 on the adoption curve for Fringe and Skirted sofas. It is a good sign!

3. Swoop Arm Chairs and Sofas Continue to Define Relaxed Luxury

Soft silhouettes remain one of the most enduring directions in furniture design. We talked about it last time on our blog, it is still out there, and they are beautiful. Swoop arm seating continues to stand out because it offers: Graceful movement, less formal structure, and relaxed elegance.

Bulky, rigid forms are giving way to pieces that feel welcoming yet sophisticated. For homes designed around longevity, this softer approach creates versatility and timeless appeal.

4. Lighting Has Become More Textural and Emotionally Layered

Okay, I can hear you saying "What is emotionally layered" . Let me elaborate :) It is soft, it is touchy, it is inviting, it feels almost like a soft couch. Yes, but still beautiful.

While marble and travertine remain beautiful staples, 2026 introduced more tactile sophistication through:

• Fabric floor lamps

• Upholstered lamp bases

• Plush shades

• Woven textures

• Soft materiality

Lighting is evolving from purely functional to deeply atmospheric.

These pieces add warmth, softness, and a more collected feeling, reinforcing that every layer of a home contributes to its emotional impact.

5. Floral and Tapestry Fabrics Are Returning in Elevated, Soft Forms

Pattern is quietly reemerging in a neutral palette through a quiet luxury lens. I was especially drawn to:

It is all done without overwhelming a space. Yes, it is new to us too, we are bringing more of these in accent items like pillows, ottomans, and armchairs. etc.

Scallops are not disappearing, but they are evolving beautifully. This season, I saw softer applications in: Decorative edging, Furniture framing, and Architectural accents.

Rather than bold or overly playful, scalloped forms now feel nuanced and enduring. Because arches and soft curves are rooted in timeless design language, they naturally create longevity.

This softer evolution feels especially aligned with homes designed to age gracefully.

The Shift Toward Soulful Longevity: Quiet Drama

The most inspiring takeaway from the 2026 spring furniture show is clear:

We are seeing homes move toward: Richer warmth, Collected sophistication, Emotional softness, Refined craftsmanship. For me, this is not about following design trends. It is about identifying lasting shifts that support homes with beauty, intention, and longevity.
