Welcome to Project Riverside, a full main-floor renovation designed for a busy Sandy Springs family of four (plus three pets!). What was once a home full of walls and dark, closed-off rooms has now become a calm, cozy, and functional retreat.
At Design & Curations, our mission is simple: to transform houses into intentional sanctuaries by blending timeless interior design, functional planning, and a highly personalized experience.
This project is especially meaningful because it began as a kitchen + laundry + dining room refresh but organically grew into a complete main floor renovation — including the living room, seating area, and powder room. Every space was designed for flow, function, and charm.

Opening Up the Space & Reimagining Layout

The first step was to remove walls between the kitchen and dining room, instantly creating a bright, open-concept main floor.
We also closed the direct garage-to-kitchen entry and re-routed traffic through the laundry + mudroom, adding a practical drop zone for daily clutter.
From custom fluted cabinetry to wide shelving units and architectural arches, every detail was thoughtfully considered to balance charm and practicality.
Kitchen: Bright, Inviting & Timeless
Where we started from...
Where we are now...
At Design & Curations, we believe a white kitchen is never boring when it’s designed with intention. The previous kitchen cabinets were also white. It has been a timeless element over the years. The beauty is having multiple elements and layers to make it interesting and current. Here we write more about them, Read our Riverside Kitchen BTS Blog.
This kitchen features:
Classic shaker cabinetry in a light, neutral palette
Fluted sink apron for subtle texture
Bespoke mix of knobs and pulls for a curated look
Sculptural leather counter stools with a beautiful silhouette from the living room view
A statement range hood that serves as the focal point
Wood ledge shelf for seasonal décor and personal touches
Lighting elevates the space:
This organic modern kitchen now feels bright, welcoming, and perfectly connected to the dining and living areas.
Dining Room: Functional & Romantic Dry Bar Nook

One of our favorite highlights is the built-in dry bar nook — a once-empty wall now turned into a functional hub for entertaining and everyday life.

Features include:
The result? A space that feels playful, elegant, and deeply personal.
Living & Seating Rooms: Cozy, Connected & Family-Friendly

The living room transformation included fluted arch cabinetry and a limewashed brick wall that brings a calm, lived-in feel.
Highlights:
Deep olive velvet sectional for comfort and character
White coffee table to anchor and brighten the space
Multi-purpose seating room designed as a flexible play + game area
Wall-to-wall black cabinetry for stylish, functional storage
The result is a modern organic living space that grows with the family while staying stylish and intentional.
Powder Room: Moody, Bold & Chic

The powder room became our chance to play with drama. We used:
It’s small but impactful, a playful contrast to the otherwise calm palette.
Laundry Room: English Countryside Charm

Even compact spaces can be beautiful and practical. The laundry room features:
We created a functional space with charm, clever storage, and design personality, perfect for a busy family.
