Farm Luxe Journal | Chapter Five
The most beautiful homes are the ones that quietly make everyday life easier.

Good design isn't just about what you see, it's also about what you don't.
In Project Farm Luxe, every storage solution was intentionally designed to support a busy family of four while preserving the warm, collected feeling of an English countryside home.
Here are five hidden storage ideas that prove practical can still be beautiful.
Even the most thoughtfully designed homes need practical storage solutions for everyday family life.
One of the biggest misconceptions about beautifully photographed homes is that they're somehow... clutter-free. The reality?
Every family has backpacks.
Dog leashes.
Board games.
Kids' art supplies.
The difference isn't that these homes have less stuff.
It's that they've been thoughtfully designed with a place for everything.
When we started Project Farm Luxe, our clients weren't asking for more storage. They were asking for a home that felt calmer. Sometimes those are actually the same thing.
The result isn't a house with more cabinets. It's a home that simply works better.
Here are five of my favorite examples.
1. Kitchen Storage Ideas: Custom Pull-Outs Beside the Range

Let's start with one of the hardest-working spaces in the kitchen.
The narrow cabinet beside the range. This storage solution Is especially valuable because they maximize every inch of cabinetry without sacrificing function.
Rather than leaving it as wasted filler, we designed custom pull-outs for cooking utensils, oils, spices, and everyday essentials.
Everything stays within arm's reach while cooking, but disappears neatly when dinner is over.
It's one of those little details that makes you wonder how you ever lived without it!
2. Fireplace Built-Ins With Hidden Storage for Family Living
The living room was designed to feel warm and collected ~ not crowded.
Open shelving adds personality through books, pottery, and meaningful objects.
But beautiful styling only works when there is somewhere for the less beautiful things to go.

That's why we balanced the open shelving with generous closed cabinetry below.
Games.
Electronics.
Dog toys.
Extra blankets.
All hidden.
The room stays calm, while still working hard for the family.
3. Breakfast Nook Storage: Built-In Banquette Drawers

One of my favorite storage moments in the entire home.
The breakfast banquette wasn't just designed to be cozy.
It was designed to earn its place.
Instead of lifting a seat cushion to access storage, we incorporated deep drawers beneath the bench, making everything much easier to reach.
It's perfect for table linens, seasonal serving pieces, coloring books, puzzles, or those everyday items that somehow never seem to have a home.
Function should feel effortless.
4. Under-Stair Storage Ideas: Creating a Custom Home Library
Every home has awkward spaces, We love turning them into opportunities!
The area beneath the staircase became a custom library and storage cabinet that feels intentional rather than forgotten.
Books. Decor. Baskets. Games.

Stair Storage: In Progress vs Completed Design
It's practical, but it also became one of those charming little moments that gives the home personality. Honestly, these are the spaces I remember most.
5. Bedroom Storage Ideas: Choosing a Functional Storage Bed
Bedrooms should feel restful, Not like they're overflowing with things.
Instead of adding another dresser, we selected a storage bed that quietly provides extra room for seasonal bedding, luggage, and items that don't need to be accessed every day.
It's one of those investments that makes the room feel simpler without asking you to own less. This Brown Storage Bed was the BEST!

The Real Luxury Isn't More Storage
It's less visual noise. I think that's what people are really looking for. When everything has a place, your home immediately feels calmer. That's exactly what our clients wanted from the very beginning!
